Rights of Way - New rights for landowners to apply and appeal for extinguishment and diversion orders. On 29 May 2007 Defra commenced public consultation. The deadline for responses is 31 August 2007.

The consultation paper looks at how the new rights might be implemented through regulations, including the level of prescribed charges. The consultation paper includes a partial Regulatory Impact Assessment, which looks in detail at the likely impacts, costs, risks and benefits. English Coast Access Consultation on Proposals to improve access to the English coast The consultation paper seeks views on a number of questions on possible options for improving coastal access. The closing date for responses is by the end of 11 September 2007.   A template for responding to the consultation paper is available in electronic format on the Defra website.

The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park have now published their proposals for core paths plans and are looking for feedback. This is in advance of the issue of their Draft Plan and statutory consultation early in 2008. Details are available from the Park Authority or on www.lochlomond-trossachs.org.
